What is the first step in getting OPWDD services?

OPWDD offers tremendously supportive services including Respite, Community Habilitation, Day Habilitation, Pre-Vocational Services, and more.

In order to get OPWDD services an individual must first apply for OPWDD eligibility to be granted the OPWDD’s determination of developmental disability.

It’s a lengthy process that can be difficult to navigate alone. Parents have found that the guidance and support of our services specialists and intake department significantly simplify the process.

The first step you can take is reaching out to our intake department. They’ll help you understand exactly what is required for your specific circumstances, and what you can expect.

In most cases, the process begins by getting psycho-social and psychological evaluations and compiling your supporting documents, such as medical records and school reports.

Once eligibility is established, families can begin exploring the many services designed to help individuals grow, develop, and live fuller lives.
