How do I find a DSP?

Families can find and hire their own DSPs by networking with family and friends, or the individual’s school or volunteer networks. 

Hamaspik can onboard anyone who meets the basic requirements to serve as a DSP: at least 14 years old and living at a different address than the person receiving services. Your coordinator can provide the full details and answer any questions about the specific requirements for each service.

When families are involved in selecting their own DSPs, they can ensure the person is the right match for their child, often choosing someone their child already knows and trusts. This personal connection can lead to DSPs who are deeply invested in the individual’s well-being and committed to supporting the family in meaningful, individualized ways.
