Servicing NYC and Long Island
A child can qualify for Early Intervention in New York if they’re under age 3 and either have a developmental delay that meets state criteria or a diagnosed condition that has a high probability of causing developmental delay. Early Intervention services are provided at no direct cost to your family.
To qualify, a child must:
These developmental areas include communication, motor skills, thinking and learning, social-emotional skills, and everyday (adaptive) skills. A child with a diagnosed physical or mental condition — such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, certain chromosomal disorders, or significant hearing or vision loss — may qualify based on the diagnosis alone.
Eligibility is always determined individually through an evaluation at no cost to your family. The evaluation is conducted by a team of specialists and typically takes place in a familiar setting, like your home or a childcare location.
As a qualified Early Intervention agency in New York, Hamaspik can both conduct the evaluation and coordinate services. You do not need a doctor's referral to get started.
Early Intervention services can include speech and feeding therapy, vision services, occupational and physical therapy, special instruction, family training and support, and more — always tailored to your child's specific needs and family priorities.
You don't need to have all the answers before reaching out. Contact Hamaspik to learn about next steps or to schedule an evaluation. Learn more about Hamapsik of Kings County’s early intervention services here.
